Natural “Aroma” for 10 minutes every day.

Light the match by striking it, and entrust yourself to the natural fragrance rising in the air. Hibi is an incense stick you can light easily without a lighting device. The incense of Awaji Island and matches of Harima. Born from the encounter of two of Hyogo prefecture’s traditional crafts in Japan.

The brand name hibi means ‘day to day’, or daily, in Japanese. It was given with the hope that you would keep it around you every day and freely enjoy its fragrance, matching each day’s mood or occasion. The logo’s design combines two of the Chinese character ‘日’ (day) set next to each other. Our goal was a cool and simple design, avoiding flamboyance.

The scents:

001 Lemongrass:

A sweet and sour scent like a lemon and a freshness reminiscent of a green meadow. Invigorating and refreshing.

002 Lavender:
The elegant, floral scent of lavender. For relaxing moments before bedtime.

003 Geranium:
An aroma that combines the lovely sweetness of rose with a green scent. Balancing.

004 Ylang Ylang:
A slightly exotic fragrance with an intense sensual sweetness. For moments of relaxation and contentment.

005 Tea tree:
The spicy scent of tea tree, with a cool freshness. For moments of relaxation and exhilaration.

006 Citronella:
The fresh aroma with a green citrus scent, also known for its insect repellent effect. For revitalizing the air in your rooms and refreshing your mind and soul.

007 Fragrant Olive:
Sweet Scented Blossom. Enjoy the refreshing aroma of fragrant flower with oriental sweetness and surround yourself with a fragrance of gentle nostalgia.

How to enjoy hibi

The incense is delicate. Be careful when using it, as it may break if you don’t strike it correctly. Watch the one-minute video for an easy to understand explanation of how to enjoy hibi.

1. Open the package film.
Pull the perforated part of the film sideways to the left and right to open the package.

2. Take out a stick of hibi and press its top tip against the brown rough surface on the side of the box (the side for striking) at an angle of 45 degrees, and scrape it diagonally down to light it. Hold the stick at its mid-point as it might break easily if you hold the far tip of the stick to strike it.

3. Once it’s lit, hold it in a slightly head-down tilted position than in a horizontal position, and keep holding it until the flame spreads to the incense part and the flame settles on its own. If you put out the flame hastily before it settles, the fire many not spread to its incense part or the smell of the match may affect the initial fragrance of the incense because the flammable material in the match head (ignition material) may not have burned completely.

4. Lay the stick on hibi’s exclusive mat and enjoy the scent for around 10 minutes. You can put it on the desk as the exclusive mat and tray are heat-resistant. If you are concerned, place it on top of the slide cover of the box to ensure safety. Don’t leave the area until the stick is burnt out. Burning more than two sticks at a time is dangerous, as it will cause overheating of the mat. Be sure to burn only one stick at a time.
